MGH hires five new physicians this fall

Marquette General Hospital has welcomed several new physicians this fall.

Drs. Karl and Lauren Meisel first came to the U.P. as medical school students as part of the Michigan State University Rural Health Program, and now have brought their young family back to Marquette.

Dr. Lauren Meisel will be a pediatrician at Marquette General Pediatric Specialists, and Dr. Karl Meisel will be a neurologist at the Marquette General Brain and Spine Center.

Besides their last name, the Meisels share an educational background: both were undergraduate students at Kalamazoo College, earned their medical degrees at Michigan State, and did internships and residencies at Brown University. Karl Meisel also completed a fellowship at the University of California.

Dr. Ryan Curran also has joined the MGH staff as a family medicine specialist at Marquette General Family Medicine--Lakewood in Harvey. He's a recent grad of the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program and will be staying in the area.

In MGH's imaging services department, musculoskeletal radiologist Dr. Paul Armour has joined the staff. He will provide imaging services for inpatient and outpatient care and also performs procedures like biopsies and joint aspirations.

Finally, urologist Dr. Diane Young has joined Marquette General Urology in the Upper Peninsula Medical Center. She recently finished a fellowship in female urology, neuro-urology and voiding dysfunction at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center.
