TV6 releases smartphone app

WLUC TV 6 News and UpperMichigansSource.com have put out a new smartphone app for mobile news users. The free app, titled TV6 WLUC, is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch.

It offers news headlines and stories, local weather including a five-day forecast and animated radar, local events and deals, sports, school closings and delays, and breaking news alerts from TV6's coverage areas across the Upper Peninsula.

The app is currently in its second version, with updated presentation of news stories, deal information, and improved navigation. So far, there are only two reviews online of the app, but both are highly positive.

Barrington Broadcasting, TV6's parent company, also has iPhone apps for its other stations, like Fox 21 News, KTVO Television, Action 4 News, and NBC25 News among others.
