A movie based on the Upper Peninsula? Sure, 50 years ago that seemed like a great idea with the making of
Anatomy of a Murder, but what about since?
Well, an article in the Marquette Mining Journal indicates it may be closer to a reality than ever before.
Excerpt: As soon as Steven Wiig read the book
U.P., the images began dancing through his brain.
Images of woods and caving grounds. Images of the haunts of his own youth and of lake shorelines.
Negaunee native Wiig, who has appeared in the films
Into the Wild and
Milk, has been scouting locations with a cinematographer and still photographer in Negaunee, Ishpeming and Marquette over the last week or so, taking a step toward making his dream of filming "U.P." here in the Upper Peninsula a reality.
