Portage Health System in Houghton is looking to hire an athletic trainer. The job is full-time and day shift, and the trainer will work in three different areas of the health system. Clinical duties include assisting physical therapists to deliver rehabilitative care and meet goals, treatment plans and patient protocols. The trainer also works with the hospital's sports medicine outreach program, under the direction of a physician or medical director, to prevent, evaluate, treat and rehabilitate injuries for athletes. Finally, the trainer is expected to participate in fitness and wellness activities like marketing, education, developing fitness programs, fitness testing and overseeing attendants.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an approved NATA athletic training program; master's degree preferred
- Three to four years of experience as a certified athletic trainer preferred
- Must achieve nine continuing education credits per three-year period
- Hold approved certification from NATA-BOC
- Hold BLS certification
- Be licensed in the state of Michigan
