Jobs Landed: Bay Area Medical Center hires new CEO

There's a new chief executive officer and president of the Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette following an eight-month search that involved interviewing several qualified candidates.

The Bay Area center, which is a key medical facility for Menominee, Mich. residents as well, had formed a search committee to help find the right individual. Ed Harding was selected to fill the position and is expected to begin his new duties in December.

Harding has been President and CEO at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Wisc., just outside Madison, since 2000. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin – Stout in 1985, and Master's degree in Hospital and Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1990.

Prior to his arrival at Columbus Community Hospital, he served as Vice President of Planning, Marketing and Professional Services for Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa from 1993 to 2000. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and is Board Certified in Healthcare Planning and Managed Care.

"I am genuinely excited about this opportunity and so is my family," Harding says. "I am proud of what we were able to accomplish at Columbus Community Hospital, but also realize that I am at that point in my 25 year career where I have a personal need for a further challenge and I think BAMC is a perfect fit. I look forward to joining the team at Bay Area Medical Center and assist in building upon past success."

BAMC launched its search for a new CEO at the beginning of 2010, following the departure of David Olson, who took the position of President of Columbia St Mary's in Ozaukee, Wisc.
