Cameron becomes partner in U.P. law firm

The U.P.-wide law firm of Rettig, Rademacher, Clark, Bray and Cameron, P.C. may sound familiar to many – except for the last name on the list, Gabe Cameron.

That's just because you're not used to the sound yet, but he's the latest partner to be named to the law firm, which has offices in Escanaba, Marquette, Iron Mountain and Menominee.

Cameron is no stranger to the U.P. Born in the Sault and raised in Ontonagon until 1991, when his family moved downstate, Cameron came back to raise his own kids in the U.P. recently.

Cameron got a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Ferris State University, and got his J.D. degree in 2006 from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He was working at the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office when he got the chance to work up north again.

"We saw Gabe's passion and devotion in helping injured workers acquire both workers compensation and Social Security disability benefits," says senior partner Jim Rettig. "That's why we wanted him at our firm."

The firm hired Cameron in 2007, and he moved to Gladstone with his family: wife Jessica is an optometrist practicing in Escanaba and Manistique, and they have two children, Charlie and Chloe.

"I've always loved the U.P. and knew it was where I wanted to raise my kids. So when the opportunity presented itself to move back here, I jumped at it," says Cameron.

Cameron specializes in workers' compensation and Social Security disability cases.
