Escanaba radio stations sold to Wisconsin group

A group of Escanaba-based radio stations are being bought by a Wisconsin media company.

Lakes Radio, Inc., announced it will sell WGLQ-FM (Magic 97) , WCMM-FM (102.5 The Moose), and WCHT-AM (600 AM) in Escanaba, and WTIQ-AM (Cruisin' 1490)  in Manistique, to Armada Media Partners of Fond du Lac.

"Armada owns radio stations less than an hour away in Menominee, Michigan and Marinette, Wisconsin, and adding our five radio stations to their coverage will offer listeners and advertisers a great opportunity with bigger and better resources," says Lakes Radio VP and general manager Rick Duerson.

Armada also owns radio stations in South Dakota, Nebraska and Minnesota in similar small markets. Duerson says he and the other employees will continue in their current jobs, and pending FCC approval, Armada will assume operations in April.
